LEARNINGS FROM DIWALI FESTIVAL

Diwali means “A row of lights”. It is one of the most important festivals of India. It is not confines to Hinduism. In Nepal this day is celebrated as the anniversary day when Lord Ashoka converted himself to Buddhism. Jains celebrate it as a day when last Tirthankara Mahavira attained nirvana (Spiritual Liberation). Sikh celebrate this day as a day of liberation when Guru Hargobind got released from Gwalior prison.  We can learn so many things from this festivals. some are here below.

Remove Darkness inside out

The real meaning of removing darkness is to remove darkness everywhere. We light up diyas. We decorate our houses with lights and lamps. We should also remove darkness from our soul. We need to get wisdom and need to revive and update our knowledge time to time. That is a reminder of this festival every year. This wisdom should not be confined to us only but to others as well. This outer light point to inner light that should lighten up with wisdom, joy and with inner peace.

Remove Negativity and be clean inside out

We clean our houses in and out during Diwali. We remove negativity from our house to welcome positive vibration and grace. We offer prayers to remove any obstacles from our life. Negativity does exist in form of bad habits, bad behaviour, bad words, jealousy, hate and anger also. We should remove that too.

Bring happiness and togetherness

This festival is a celebration of togetherness. We share joy, happiness and laughter with others in form of gifts, new cloths and with meeting and greeting with loved ones. It does not limited to our relatives, neighbours and friends, we also share our joy with less privileged people by gifting them and making them happy.

Develop inner virtues

The core purpose of any festival is to bring happiness among all as well as within. Divinity is the source of happiness. True happiness comes from Kindness and kindness is to make everyone happy around us. When we try to make everyone happy around us we enjoy the togetherness. Diwali signifies the victory of good over evil. We need to develop patience no matter what circumstances are no matter what time it take.

Wishing you all happy prosperous and safe Diwali.
